I had been going back and forth between the thought of hiring a doula throughout my second trimester. I finally decided that I needed a doula because I needed the extra support, and someone to be an advocate for my birth plan in a hospital setting. I wanted an unmedicated, natural childbirth in a hospital setting and with a midwife staff. I was also a single Mom with very little close and trusted family or friends around so a professional, knowledgeable, and calm doula was what I needed to be my side at birthing date. I didn’t actively look for a doula until well into my third trimester. At 34 weeks, I found her on Doula Match. One of the first things that striked me about Jessica was her level of professionalism and promptness in replying to my questions asked online. She had her resources ready and I felt good talking to her on the phone the first time. Two weeks leading up to my birth, Jessica was on call via phone and texting. She was very responsive and a good listener. On birthing date, Jessica drove down to the University of Utah Hospital where she joined me as I birthed with the Birth Care Health Care Midwifery Program. Jessica never left my side. She focused solely on me and my birth, and supported my birth plan. When my baby showed to be in a posterior position, Jessica was knowledgeable in the Rebozo technique. Her printed affirmations from hypnobirth techniques helped me a lot during my surges. When I was in the final stages of pushing and I felt I couldn’t do it, Jessica was there reassuring me that I could do it, and that I had it in me. Her calmness and support helped carry me in those last moments of pushing my little girl out. When my Vika was born, Jessica was right there to guide her up to my chest for skin to skin, and to the breast. After birth, Jessica checked up on Baby Vika and I, and visited with us postpartum. I am so grateful for Jessica and her services. She has a genuine love for her craft and she will always remain special to me as the doula who helped bring my baby into the world. Love you, Jessica!

We had the pleasure of having Jessica as a doula for the recent birth of our daughter. As a first time mom, the fear of the unknown was one of the hardest parts. Jessica's calm and collected attitude was reassuring and helped my husband and I to stay positive during the birth. She comes extremely prepared with tools and strategies to work through each stage of labor. We were amazed at how effective the techiniques she used were to ease the intensity of my contractions. From positioning to pressure points and more, she realy knows what works. To top it off, she brought many items that we never would have thought we'd need and yet they made all the difference. One of our favorite things was when she whipped out a handheld fan to keep me cool while I pushed. She also hung up positive affirmations throughout the room to help me stay focused. We were so impressed with her knowledge and her skillset, and we were able to trust and lean on her without fail.
My husband and I are somewhat reserved, but Jessica is so easy to be around and to talk to. We felt instantly comfortable with her and enjoyed sharing our special day with her. We know our daughter's birth would have been harder and longer without her there. What's more, she was able to help my husband be the best support to me that he could be, which made for a more sweet experience for the two of us. We are so glad Jessica attended our birth and highly recommend her to anyone seeking doula services!!

My husband and I chose to hire Jessica because we were planning on a natural birth and my husband wasn't too comfortable with hospitals. Jessica was extremely knowledgeable on pain coping skills and was able to advocate for me when I wanted to walk around the hospital. Even though the birth did not go as I had planned it as I was induced, Jessica was very supportive of my decision to have an epidural and was with me the whole time encouraging me. I would definitely recommend her as she is passionate of her work and has great experience with births and children. We won't hesitate to hire her again for our second child.

I am so thankful that I had Jessica as my doula! I cannot imagine my delivery without her. My husband and I knew from the moment we met her that we would be a good match. Jessica was supportive of my birth plan and my decision to have an epidural. She provided us with a great informational folder on what to bring to the hospital, postpartum care, etc. When I had a preterm labor scare 5 weeks before my due date, Jessica was available by phone and checked in on me frequently via text while I was in the hospital and at home. I ended up going in to labor at 38 weeks. My labor came on suddenly and was very intense. Jessica was so flexible and quickly made it to the hospital to support my husband and me. I was in terrible pain waiting for my epidural, but Jessica knew just what to do. She helped to control my pain by using a rebozo, sitting me on a birthing ball, and helping me with breathing. She held my hand when I got my epidural and was at my bedside as I progressed. Jessica (along with my husband and nurse) held my legs as I pushed for 3.5 hours! She helped me with positioning, pushing technique, and she advocated for me when I was in pain or nauseated. It was also so reassuring to have someone there who was so experienced with the labor process. She reassured me along the way and told me what to expect. She also gave me a cute goody bag to make my hospital stay more enjoyable. Since my delivery, Jessica has kept in touch with me, checking in to see if I was doing ok settling in with my baby. She was just the best and I couldn't have done it without her!

Jessica changed my view on childbirth. She was so kind and helpful! I had so many problems with my first birth so going into my second I was very worried along with the fact that I have anxiety. She made you feel like family and that she had your back no matter what. Skin to skin was very important to me and she told the doctors many times to make sure it happens and to me that meant the most because I can be pretty timid and not speak my mind when I should. She was the voice I was to scared to have. I highly highly recommend her.

Jessica made my birth experience so much smoother! Before my delivery she checked up on me on a regular basis to see how my pregnancy was going but also to answer any questions I had. I never felt silly asking her questions (since this was my first pregnancy I wasn't totally sure what to expect) And she always was very responsive. During early labor she continued to text me to see how I was progressing and recommended things to help me relax. She showed up at the hospital at 2am with a smile on her face and ready to help. I had a really long and tough labor, and she was there to assist me and my husband. Jessica made my husband feel very comfortable and made sure that she wasn't "stepping on his toes" in assiting me in laboring. She and my husband took turns and used counter-pressure to ease the pressure during my whole labor. My delivery didn't go as planned, but she encouraged me to stay strong and make the choices that were best for me, my husband, and our baby. She was very supportive throughout the whole experience. I would definitely recommend Jessica to anyone who's pregnant. If you're not thinking about hiring a doula, consider rethinking it!
